76- Taylor and Melody: Love and Guns

We hope you don't feel like we're beating a dead horse when it comes to this subject. But our two guests on today's episode have a very unique story when it comes to the recent OIC. And we here at the MCS podcast believe that their story should be told.

Taylor and Melody are two people who found each other and fell in love with each other at the range. On top of that, they're both IPSC Handgun and PCC national champions when it comes to IPSC. They were both selected to represent Canada on the global stage in the Czech Republic next year. But with the OIC that came in effect on December 5th, that dream of competing might be a pipe dream.

Taylor and Melody start off by telling the beautiful story of how they met each other at the range, and the whirlwind romance that led to Taylor proposing to Melody at a match. From there they talk about how they have since become the de facto face of the most recent OIC, and how their story of dedication to the sport has hit a note when it comes to the Canadian public.

The conversation than shifts into their experience with the IPSC community and the shooting community as a whole. Melody and Taylor talk about the meaningful connections they've built in the community during the time that they have been involved in shooting. From finding each other, to stacking their wedding party with fellow shooters that they've met over the years, the story that they tell speaks volumes about the Canadian shooting community.

From there, Melody, the two Taylors, and Pat then give their opinions on the recent OIC. The 4 come to a mutual conclusion that the many gun bans over the years seem to boil down to malice more than incompetency. Firearms have many purposes in Canada. But one of the best things that they are efficient at is saving the user's life during an event where a predator has the intent to end the user's life.

The four end the episode with an optimistic view of what they believe will happen in the coming months, both for Melody and Taylor, and for LGOs in Canada
